Account Manager, international animal health work

Garnett Keeler Public Relations is recruiting again - this time for a specialist with experience in pharmaceuticals /science / medical journalism or PR, or the qualifications to demonstrate that such topics hold no fears - plus well-developed writing skills. If you have a mainstream European language as well, you'll shoot to the top of our list - but don't be deterred from applying if you haven't.

All our account handlers write - a lot - so although you will interface with the clients a great deal you will also need to be a skilled and productive writer. As a matter of basic professional principle we do not employ specialist writers - even our main board directors do a great deal of writing.

Something in your CV will convince us that you will have no trouble at all getting to grips with all aspects of the animal health sector - covering pharmaceuticals and treatments for farm and domestic animals in an account which is extremely international in nature. Your key audiences will include veterinary surgeons, veterinary academics, farmers, food and bioscientists, and you will do a lot of writing from an informed base, to an informed base. Perhaps you will have a bioscience degree, medical or veterinary training of some sort, or experience of journalism / PR in this or a related field. However, you must also be an accomplished, fast, productive writer and a clear strategic thinker.

You will also, of course, be an established journalist or PR practitioner with a record of career achievement. The successful candidate will do a lot of writing, European travel, event management, and will become involved in every aspect of animal health PR from veterinary communications to crisis management, from internal communications to managing relations with the specialist press, and from corporate publishing to strategy. The client base for this side of our business is truly multinational.

The job is to support several (very busy) existing staff and to have the flexibility to get involved in every aspect of the work. We are seeking a team player with ambition, initiative, and enthusiasm, along with the people skills to blend-in well with a group of motivated account handlers who have enjoyed high levels of success. To some extent we'll design the job around the individual - though that doesn't mean we don't have a clear idea of who we're looking for.

Candidates should note that claimed qualifications will be checked and references will be taken up once a provisional offer has been made.

To apply, send a written application and your CV to jobs@garnett-keeler.com and quote "ref: Jobs in PR" on your application.

Please note: this is a different vacancy to the one advertised last month, which has been successfully filled; since the skills sets sought are different it is unlikely that applicants for that position will be qualified for this one. However, if you applied unsuccessfully for the previous vacancy and do feel qualified to apply for this one, please submit a fresh application.

Recruitment agencies: please do not telephone the agency as we are extremely busy and feel that comprehensive information about the company is given on this website. You are welcome to send details of candidates to jobs@garnett-keeler.com so long as they fulfil the basic criteria outlined here.
