      <title>Junior Account Executive</title>

The principal requirements of this role are to provide reliable and efficient support to members of the account teams, and to ensure that the administrative aspects of their accounts are up to date. In addition to having had some exposure to account handling within consumer lifestyle (likely to be at a Team Assistant level or similar), applicants will also need to be able to demonstrate a handful of good consumer media contacts. Although not an exhaustive list, the key duties are detailed below.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Client
• Under guidance, draft press releases, photo-calls, invitations, features, press packs, background information sheets, status reports and competition formats, for approval by an account manager or account director. Contribute to advertorials for clients where these are booked.
• With coaching and guidance, through regular liaison begin to develop relationships with clients on day-to-day matters, attend client meetings, contribute towards meeting agendas and take notes for contact reports.
• Keep team members informed of all developments relating to client work and immediately escalate any issues encountered for a ‘team resolution’
• Start to develop good understanding of the client’s business, markets and issues affecting them, in order to identify, on behalf of clients, potential issues and opportunities present. 
• Regularly read the trade media and get to know who the key editors are. Feed into the team relevant trends and news which could be of interest to clients and produce news-angles.
• Begin to develop media contacts in areas relevant to client activity. Liaise on forthcoming features through ring-rounds and regular face-to-face meetings (always with another member of the team for support and direction). Follow up with media where product samples have been sent to secure coverage and achieve results. Ensure coverage is then collated and ready for presentation to client.
• Under guidance, liaise with third party suppliers, organising design and artwork, photography, print, research and booking venues/catering etc ensuring that House protocol on POs and invoicing is adhered to.
• Assist in the arrangement of press briefings, photo calls and other events. Have a proactive role in securing press attendance.
• Start to develop an awareness of hourly fees, budgeting fees and expenses, plus agreed budgets allocated to activity.
• Under guidance, issue purchase orders, as authorised by account managers and account directors.
• Maintain adequate supplies of client press paper, photographs, literature (where relevant) and product samples, and ensure they are logged in and out.
• Ensure press cuttings are properly mounted and sent to client, as agreed. 
• Ensure there is a comprehensive client filing system set up and running.

House
• Recognise profitable opportunities for the company i.e. advertorials, extra projects etc. Demonstrate strong financial awareness.
• Develop new business opportunities.
• Attend brainstorms on new business and research ideas.  Contribute to new business proposals.
• Contribute to everyday office activities and administration to help ensure a smooth-running office – to include answering the phone.
• Protect copyright and confidentiality of all company documents and information at all times.
• Always be aware of office security and locking valuables out of sight.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
• Exposure to account handling within a fast-moving consultancy working for clients from within at least a couple of the following sectors: food &amp; drink, luxury &amp; lifestyle, health &amp; beauty, entertainment &amp; leisure, and art &amp; interior. Knowledge within other consumer sectors is an advantage. 
• Ability to manage workload effectively and be responsible for a number of accounts at any one time
• Some client facing experience with an understanding of the businesses of their current clients and their competitors
• Strong written skills (and accurate spelling) with high attention to detail
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels throughout the company
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills
• Proven problem solving skills and ability to work on own initiative
• A team player with endless enthusiasm, a level-head, great sense of humour and a good academic background
• Fully computer literate in Microsoft packages, plus ideally an understanding of media databases, e.g. Gorkana, Social Media Library

A position has arisen whereby we are now recruiting for a “Senior Account Executive” with specific experience within beauty. Knowledge within other consumer sectors would also be beneficial should the opportunity to work on other accounts arise. It is essential that the successful applicant is able to hit the ground running on a number of our current beauty accounts.  

The principal requirements of this role are to provide solid and reliable support to more senior members of your account teams, and to begin to take responsibility for managing less experienced members of a team who are each working on a number of accounts. You will have significant experience of public relations in a senior executive role and to support your proven experience of account handling within the beauty sector you will need to be able to demonstrate a “black book” of solid beauty media contacts. Although not an exhaustive list, the key duties are detailed below.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Demonstrate ability to plan and prioritise own work, keeping account manager/account director informed of all developments relating to client work
• Be very familiar with the agreed programme of work and look ahead to ensure activities are instigated within good time, not missed and not rushed.
• Plan, organise and manage junior and operational staff to progress day-to-day work on their clients, keeping account team/senior management informed of developments on client business at all times. Take responsibility for keeping internal team action lists updated so that all team members understand their own tasks/responsibilities.
• Maintain quality control over work produced by junior and operational staff and check all written material before it goes to account manager/account director for final approval once work is at a standard that would be suitable to send to a client.
• Develop an awareness of junior account executive workloads and assist with planning. Begin to motivate the team. Identify opportunities and problems on team for discussion with senior management where necessary.
• Draft press releases, photo-calls, invitations, features, press packs, background information sheets, status reports, competition formats, and contributions to proposals and speeches, for approval by account manager/account director.
• Maintain close liaison with clients to ensure work is progressing satisfactorily and opportunities are being seized, and involve senior management as appropriate. Identify issues and opportunities and give professional client consultation. Attend client meetings; taking the lead on areas involving media relations, draft agendas and contact reports.
• Develop a greater, more detailed understanding of client business and markets and issues affecting them.
• Ensure adequate supplies are maintained of client press paper, photographs, literature, product samples and ensure they are consistently logged in and out.
• Nurture existing media contacts and take the lead on identifying and developing new beneficial relationships. Keep up-to-speed with changes and developments in the media and inform the team. Liaise on forthcoming features through regular ring-rounds and take pro-active role in selling in ideas and promotions. Mentor more junior members of the team in media relations skills and help them to develop this area for their own progression.
• Manage database lists of press contacts – to include initial creation and regular maintenance to ensure these are updated.
• Ensure all work is carried out within budget and in a timely manner. Develop a good awareness of hourly fees, budgeting fees and expenses.
• Develop a confidence in presenting both internally and externally.
